The Sea

Quite often we dedicate part of our walk to body-surfing on an unspoilt beach. (Shallow water only and no experience required) Apart from being invigorating when you first submerse yourself, there is a child-like glee when you get the timing knack and skim into the beach at what feels like 30 mph.

Often you will hear a joyous expletive being screamed above the noise of the surf. Is this detox? Well, it is about regaining contact with part of us that yearns to express. It surely can do no harm to remove barriers to our wellbeing, of any description.

There is another aspect to swimming in the sea, and we’re lucky that the water is warm and clear in our Saharan zone. People with rheumatic aches and arthritic conditions seem to enjoy a respite by a swim in the sea. Could it be the general buoyancy or something to do with the electrolytic properties of brine.

You don’t need to know how, if it does the job, and it seems to!
