What's New?

Let us go back a step and look at ourselves as humans. We are a hybrid being with components of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. All these components need to be addressed as there is a negative impact on the whole person if one or more components are out of balance.

While these components are generally agreed to represent the holistic view of our existence, there is also the question of how we are connected to all things as we do not function well in isolation / deprivation.

How we connect within ourselves and with our environment are also factors to address in the wellbeing equation. This is born out by a dictionary definition which states, holistic: emphasizing the organic or functional relation between parts and the whole

I will address the aspects of Holistic Detox with respect to how our holiday retreat works. Remember that the term holiday derives from an anglo saxon origin and it relates to a context of holy, sacred, or whole. This is not just a religious connotation of keeping the Sabbath holy, but like all religion there is a common sense natural law which begets a more workable society if its members are healthy in mind and body.

It seems then that the notion of one holi-day a week is largely ignored with leisure and other practicalities taking the place of a designated day to relax and recharge.

It follows that a lifestyle without ongoing maintenance will develop tell-tale indications that corrective measures are necessary.

Illness is the main sign, but irritability, frustration, low productivity or creativity together with other negative emotions are just as common.

In a way it is vital for our wellbeing that we do get ill in such circumstances, or we would be heading for a much more serious state of depletion. I like to call it the uses of adversity!

Our reflection of the maturing nature of our Holistic Holidays shows us that most people come to stay with us at relatively short notice. What we offer, is a facility that you don’t wait long to avail yourself of. Furthermore this is a mainstream demand as the majority of our clients are busy female executives. I still cant fathom why we host so many women. Perhaps women are more in touch with the state of their feelings and more likely to take care of them. Answers on an email please!

This is all by way of background to the main topic of Holistic Detox. We have struggled for years to come up with some neat phrases that encapsulate what we do here at our holiday retreat. It was only recently that it dawned (gradual state of enlightenment) on us that we have become a Holistic Detox Centre, reinforced by observing the transformations of our guests. Transformation is not a word to be used lightly. It does mean as the Cambridge dictionary says, “to change completely the appearance or character of something or someone, especially so that they are improved:”

Behind the working of a Detox is a process that stops us doing harmful things to ourselves. You may be unaware of some of these things. Its not just about food. There are some even more powerful forces at work, usually beyond our ken!

We are convinced that all the aspects of the choices we offer at Holistic Holidays are instrumental in manifesting a total detox. While the uptake preference of our guests may vary a little, there is no one element described here which is not seen to be helpful. It is all common sense. You don’t need to be a doctor or a rocket scientist to prove that it will be good for you. Your personal intuition will tell you if any of the following may make you feel sustainably better. Few of these notions will be new to you but the main difference is the combination of detox elements and the empowerment by learning to link them to our awareness.

Going on holiday is familiar to us, but this is the kind of holiday when you bring back a lasting benefit, not just a tan and a feeling of needing another holiday to get over the last one! Please consider the following alongside the need to get away quickly, easily, for a week, to a clean, safe healthy nurturing environment that will help you regain a healthy relationship with your inner and outer self.
